Yahya Sobeih was a 32-year-old Palestinian photojournalist from Gaza, recently martyred in an Israeli airstrike just hours after celebrating the birth of his daughter, Sana. Since 2014, his lens captured the raw, unfiltered truth giving voice to the pain, resilience, and humanity of his people.
He was also the photographer behind the 360° footage featured in our VR exhibit captured in Gaza after October 7th. His work allows the world to witness not only the destruction but the deep personal losses felt by those who remain. He also captured the resilience of those who insist on not leaving and extracting life out of genocide.
After October 7th, Yahya lost his sister, his niece, his brother, his closest friend, and many loved ones. His camera, once a witness to others' grief, now also reflects his own. Through his work, Yahya reminds us: Palestinians are not just numbers in headlines. They are families, dreams, and lives interrupted.
Yahya left behind his wife Amal, and their children Baraa, Kenan, and newborn Sana, who are still in Gaza. Trapped. Grieving. Struggling to survive under daily bombardment, siege, and constant evacuation orders. They need us. So, please donate to help them and share with others
